Turning off Bitlocker, clearing the TPM, then turning Bitlocker back on so it re-encrypts the drive. Only occurs when starting up after a full shutdown. It does not exhibit the issue on reboots. The issue occurs regardless if the laptop is "on its own" with no other devices connected, OR connected to a Dell WD19TB thunderbolt/USB-C dock. There are no other drives attached to the machine, as confirmed in Disk Management in Windows. At which point, it boots to Windows normally.īoth Windows and the BIOS do appear to "see" the TPM. If I hit Esc for more options, then "Skip this drive", it gives me the option to continue to Windows 10. The weird thing is, i CAN continue past it. On the recovery key entry screen, the reason it gives is "Bitlocker needs your recovery key to unlock your drive because the trusted platform module is unavailable". Also had the same issue when trying it with w10 version 2004.Įvery time the unit is shut down, and then powered back on, it prompts for the Bitlocker recovery key before booting to Windows. I've got a new Dell Precision 5550 laptop, Windows 10 圆4 version 1909, where the drive is encrypted with Bitlocker, and am running into a weird issue with it. ![]()
